Courchevel 1850 has long been considered the world leading resort in super luxury chalets and pushing the boundaries when it comes to creating, new, exciting top end properties in this highly competitive market. I headed to the luxury resort in December 2019 to check out the latest and greatest additions; Chalet Aurore, Courchevel.
Aurore, meaning dawn or daybreak is a very fitting name for this new, super luxury chalet in Courchevel 1850. With far reaching views over the Haute Savoie towards Mont Pourri and Le Grand Bec it is not unusual for guests at Chalet Aurore to wake with the warm, pink, alpenglow shining off the surrounding peaks.
Completed in December 2019, the concept was simple – build one of the best luxury mountain chalets in the world. Three months in, Chalet Aurore is quickly becoming recognised as one of the most highly sought after super luxury chalets in Courchevel and the Three Valleys.
I was lucky enough to look round the chalet shortly before its completion and the sheer WOW factor of the chalet is incredible. Walking into the main entrance of the chalet you are met with an immediate feeling of opulence. It is clear that no expense has been spared and the attention to detail is incredible.
The extravagant wellness area is one of the most jaw dropping in Courchevel 1850 and the wider Alps. The swimming pool is quite simply spectacular, at 19 metres in length, it is perfect for fitness or wallowing. Alongside the swimming pool you’ll find a hot tub, plunge pool, sauna, hammam and massage treatment room – a magnificent area to truly unwind and relax after a long day on the mountain.
Heading upstairs, walking across the lobby and stepping into the glass lift, you are then struck with the scale of the chalet, at 1415 m/sq it is absolutely huge. The lift is swift, smooth and very modern, everything you’d expect from this luxury Courchevel chalet.
I exit the lift on the second floor, and, to my right is the incredible living room with floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular views over the outstretched alpine peaks. To my left, the sleek dining area provides a wonderful space to gather for business or pleasure.
The large dining table is spacious and sociable. It is the perfect size to comfortably accommodate to whole group and indulge in the gourmet cuisine prepared by your highly experienced chef accompanied with the flow of drinks and good conversation. The hanging, teardrop chandeliers, are a constant theme throughout. Providing a warm and welcoming glow against the natural woods and plush velours ideal for those cold winter nights.
Exploring the second floor further I find the first introduction to the incredible marble that courses throughout this chalet like a white, teal and bronze wave. The semi-open fitted kitchen boasts a huge piece of the striking rock that provides more evidence, should it be needed, of the grandeur of the chalet.
Onto the third floor, which hosts the master double bedroom suite, complete with its own hammam, lounge area and dressing room. The word ‘penthouse’ immediately comes to mind when in this suite. The huge glass frontage and far reaching views are stunning and add a real cherry to this already world class cake.
The marble bathroom has a beautiful, warm feeling to it whilst the addition of its own private hammam really leaves you in no doubt that Chalet Aurore is one of the best luxury chalets in Courchevel.
